How Does The Monthly Fee Work?
The Problem Small Business Owners Face With the Outdated Traditional Law Firm Model
I understand what it’s like to start your own business because I’ve been there. I understand that most business owners try to build businesses that not only fully comply with the law, but also leverage it to allow the business to be competitive and deliver solid returns on investment. Because of my experience representing small businesses, as well as working as an in-house attorney for large global corporations, I understand that developing the proper legal protections at the onset of a business can help avoid costly litigation and other legal problems down the road.
The problem is that many small business owners and start-up entrepreneurs find legal services to be inaccessible due to high costs. If you’ve tried to hire a business lawyer in the past, you were likely first asked to pay a large retainer, often times $10,000.00 or more. You were then likely told that you would be billed by the hour in six minute increments at a rate of $300.00 per hour (or more). You probably asked for an estimate on how many hours it would take or how much it would cost to work on your matter, and the firm you were working with couldn’t tell you.
After surveying the legal services landscape, I realized there was a big gap in the market: small business owners and start-up entrepreneurs have plenty of legal needs, but law firms are out of their reach due to their high hourly rates and unpredictable costs. In response to this need, I offer a flat-fee monthly General Counsel service. For a relatively small monthly fee, small business owners and start-up entrepreneurs can finally get the legal advice their businesses need without having to keep a high priced law firm on retainer or hiring dedicated full-time in-house counsel.
My General Counsel Fixed Monthly Retainer Includes All of the Following:
Unlimited Communication
With my monthly General Counsel Service, you get unlimited communication with an experienced business attorney. This includes phone calls, emails, text messaging, instant messaging, Skype, or any other type of communication you prefer. Inevitably, all new small business owners, and start-up entrepreneurs face legal questions as they start their businesses. With my monthly General Counsel Service you will know that you have an experienced business attorney there for you to provide advice on any legal issue you might face or answer legal questions you might have. There are no big-law firm retainers of several thousand dollars to pay. For a low flat monthly rate, you get an experienced business attorney to be “on call” to provide you advice on any legal issues and answer any legal questions you might have.
Free Contract Review
Included with your monthly retainer is the review of two (2) basic contracts per month**. As you start doing business, you will almost certainly enter into contracts. With your subscription plan, you can have two basic contracts reviewed by an experienced business attorney per year. If you happen to need more contracts reviewed, I will gladly review any additional contracts your business requires for an affordable flat fee per contract that will cost you a fraction of what it would cost to use the services of a traditional law firm.
Free Drafting of Basic Legal Documents
Your General Counsel Monthly Retainer includes two free basic legal documents per month. If you happen to need more than the two free basic legal document per year, I will gladly draft any additional documents your business may need for an affordable flat fee per document that will cost you a fraction of what it would cost to use the services of a traditional law firm.
*Monthly General Counsel Services require a six (6) month commitment, and you will automatically be billed on a monthly basis for the six (6) month period.
**Basic Contracts included in the General Counsel Service include Non-Disclosure Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Promissory Notes, Powers of Attorney, Bills of Sale, Deeds, Employment Agreements, Consulting Agreements, and Simple Lease Agreements
